My Story

I started making soap over 20 years ago as retirement project. My husband was allergic to commercial soap so I decided it was a good time to try and make something that would be beneficial for sensitive skin. After a year of research and another year of experimentation, I was able to come up with my own recipe for good, moisturizing, and sudsy soap that is kind to the skin and the planet. All of my products are my own special recipes that have been well tested. Everything is made in my basement workshop in Eau Claire, Wisconsin.

What makes great soap?

My soap is made like our grandmothers did at the turn of the century. Back then people poured water through wood ashes to get lye, also known as sodium hydroxide. They combined that with rendered animal fat to make tallow soap. Today we use a variety of oils and sodium hydroxide in a cold process that is made and cured for a month before it is used and loved by people around the world!

Each oil has its own job to do.

Olive Oil

The main ingredient. It provides moisture and a creamy texture

Almond & Castor Oils

In the correct proportions, almond and castor oils make lots of suds!

Coconut Oil

Coconut oil provides hardness and moisture.

Palm Oil

Palm oil adds a smooth and creamy texture. I use only sustainable palm oil that is grown in the US and doesn’t harm the rainforests.

Essential & Fragrance Oils

The great smells come from essential oils and plant based fragrance oils.

Colors

Color comes from natural minerals and mica.
